Those who are die hard Celine Dion fans I am sure go gaga over these lines and this awesome song by this fabulous singer. For some, this might be something like an anthem, an inspiration or simply musical bliss and a heavenly experience. That is what is singing, an art, which if you are good at, you can rule the world and impart immense happiness to the listeners. I mean thanks to the umpteen exceptionally talented and amazing singers that I always get a direly needed quota of relaxation and mental calm after listening to their music. But then these people have slogged hard, trying out and practicing singing techniques to be nothing but the best! If you aspire to be a la Celine Dion or Bruce Springsteen, the text to come is just for you!

One of the most important aspects of techniques to sing well is to know and understand that a singing voice is divided in 2. One is the head voice and the other is the chest voice. While the head voice deals with the high notes of the range, having a clear, bright sound, the chest voice is all about low notes and has a richer or fuller sound. All the great vocalists have been told this from the day they started singing. Read more on singing tips.

Breathing exercises are another part of the techniques you need to sing well. Singing is all about how well you can control your breathing, when to inhale and when to exhale. The most easiest way to improve that is to do deep breathing. This will help you to breathe correctly in the gaps or rests and hit the note right. Breathing techniques for singing also help in adding the expression to the song. To add another one, for getting your vocal chords to lower is to inhale, feeling like you are starting to yawn. This is also called as inhaling with a ‘feeling of astonishment’. Your Adam’s Apple is lowered by this technique, helping you to sing better. Singing is done best if you are in a specific posture. This posture should be such that air should be able to move in and out of the body freely. Proper singing techniques involve a proper position of the body while singing. Following are the essentials of a proper body posture while singing.

Feet slightly apart
Knees bent
Hips rotated forward
Straight spine
Flat abdomen
Chest comfortably raised
Shoulders down and back
Head straight ahead

Any one who wants to sing well, the sooner he gets this right, the better, because this cannot be compromised at all. Read more on singing tips for beginners.

After you learn a technique of singing, in a correct manner, try hitting a high C in classical and heady sound, or may be use your mixed vocal register. Follow that by hitting a high C in a loud and powerful voice. Some songs need you to vibrate your voice. That is called vibrato. You can also call it a vocal wobble. Use a small, fast vibrato if you basically know what it is and how to do it.

In addition to these, advanced singing techniques will involve focusing on fine tuning the flaws in singing like the pronunciation, the infusion of the correct feelings and probably performing on the stage. All these and more such nitty gritties of singing will be taught in singing lessons, once a person gets those notes right.

I am certainly going to try and croon one of my favorite numbers. Do you think these singing techniques will help you do so? Rock on! All the best!
